2 brothers killed in Comilla road crash

Two brothers were killed and three injured as covered van rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla early today.

The deceased are Abdul Karim, 28, and Abul Kalam, 22, sons of Abdul Mannan, of Kushiara village of the upazila, our district correspondent reports quoting Rafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector of Daudkandi Highway Police Station.

A Chittagong-bound covered van hit a three-wheeler near Pannai village around 6:00am, leaving the two passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and three others injured, the SI said.

The injured -- Billah Hossain, Farroque Mia and Abul Kalam -- were taken to Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex.

The accident took place when the two brothers were going to lift sand in Goumoti Bridge area, the IS added.

Police seized both the vehicles but the drivers managed to flee the spot.
