10 hurt in clash over Brazil-Argentina fans’ quarrel
At least 10 people were injured in a clash today over an altercation between two supporters of Brazil and Argentina in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.
The incident took place at Nishchintapur village under Guniyauk union of the upazila, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent quoting villagers and police sources.
Khokon Mia, a supporter of Brazil football team, locked in an altercation with Argentina supporter Hamid Khan of the village on Thursday night after Argentina was defeated by Croatia 3-0.
Later, the families of Hamid and Khokon solved the matter through arbitration at Khokon’s house.
However, Khokon’s people today allegedly beat Hamid when he was walking alone on the village road this afternoon. On information, Hamid’s relatives also got engaged in the clash, leaving ten people injured.
Six of the injured were admitted to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex while one critically injured Golap Khan, 48, has been sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
Md Abu Zafar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nasirnagar Police Station, confirmed the incident to The Daily Star.
