Around 10,000 masks and 10,000 soap were distributed in primary and secondary schools of Mollahat upazila under Bagerhat district today -- in a bid to combat coronavirus.
The programme started in the afternoon, through handing over the items to Umme Hamima, head teacher of Shaheed Hemayet Uddin Girls' Secondary School, reports our local correspondent.
Shahinul Alam Chhana, upazila parishad chairman; Maffara Tasnin, upazila executive officer; Biplob Kanti Bishwas, upazila health and family planning officer, and other important personalities were present during the programme.
Local lawmaker Sheikh Helal Uddin instructed the upazila administration to hand over the items to children, said Maffara Tasnin.
Leaflets containing information on coronavirus were also given out among the students in order to raise awareness. They were also given training on how and when to wash hands.
