DSCC to distribute food among 50,000 families in need
Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon today announced that they would distribute one month's food among 50,000 low-income earners, ultra-poor and the homeless following the coronavirus outbreak.
The food items will be distributed from Saturday, said the mayor while observing the spraying of disinfectant in Dhaka's Gulistan area this afternoon.
He also distributed cash to over 100 rickshaw-pullers and day labourers there.
"If any citizen calls our hotline numbers and informs us that they are facing a food crisis, our DSCC team will take food to them," the mayor said while talking to reporters.
He also said seven executive magistrates under the DSCC are working to ensure home quarantine.
Earlier in the day, DSCC's Chief Executive Officer Imdadul Haque, on behalf mayor Khokon, distributed cash among at least 200 homeless people in Azimpur, Dhanmondi, Kathalbagan and Baitul Mukarram of the capital.
