Woman die of dengue fever at DMCH
A woman has died of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease, at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Khadiza Akhter Neela, 27, wife of Md Manir Hossain, was resident of Gendaria in Dhaka’s Dayaganj area.
She died of dengue fever, Nasir Uddin, assistant director (administration) at the DMCH, confirmed it to The Daily Star today.
Neela had been suffered from a fever since the day of Eid-ul-Azha and took treatment locally. Later she was admitted to the DMCH on August 16, Nasir Uddin said.
She breathed her last around 7:00pm yesterday, he added.
A record 56,379 people have been infected with the mosquito-borne disease so far this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
Of them 6,470 are currently under treatment in hospitals across the country.
A total of 1,572 new patients -- 750 in Dhaka and the rest outside -- were admitted to different hospitals in 24 hours until 8:00am yesterday, according to the DGHS.
