Speaker mourns death of lawmaker Rushema

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Rushema Begum, a reserved seat Awami League lawmaker.

Rushema died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Faridpur last night at the age of 85.

Rushema was the wife of Imamuddin Ahmed, former president of Faridpur district unit of Awami League and a close aide of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In a condolence message, the speaker prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Rushema and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Mia and Chief Whip Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury also expressed shock at her death.
