SC refuses to stay Fouzia’s appointment as Viqarunnisa principal
The Supreme Court (SC) chamber judge today refused to stay appointment of Professor Fouzia Rezwan as the principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College (VNSC).
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the SC, passed “no order” on a petition filed seeking a stay order on the appointment of Prof Fouzia.
The apex court judge also sent the petition filed by Advocate Eunus Ali Akond, a SC lawyer, to its full bench for hearing it on October 21.
Eunus submitted the petition to the appellate division yesterday and said that the governing body of VNSC is the authority to appoint its principal as per relevant regulations, while the government has authority to appoint teachers.
But the government illegally appointed Fouzia as principal of the educational institution on September 15, although it has no jurisdiction to do so, he said in the petition.
Following a writ petition filed by Eunus, the HC on Tuesday issued a rule asking the government to explain in four weeks why the appointment of Prof Fouzia as principal of VNSC should not be declared illegal.
The HC also cleared the way for Fouzia to join her post by lifting its earlier stay order.
Principal of Viqarunnisa Nazneen Ferdous and two other teachers of the institution were removed last year over death of Aritry Adhikari, a student of the school.
