16kg gold seized in Dhaka
Law enforcers detained a man and seized 140 gold bars weighing 16.24 kilogrammes from his possession in Paltan area of Dhaka this evening.
The man, whose identity could not be known immediately, carrying the gold in a black bag was moving around Baitul Mukarram Market around 6:00pm, said Shiblee Noman, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Motijheel zone).
On suspicion, locals intercepted him and found the gold bars, the police official said.
On information, law enforcers from Paltan Police Station went there and handed him over to the customs officials, the ADC added.
The market price of the gold is approximately Tk 8 crore, police said.
