It is the last day of the weekend. But city dwellers have been experiencing bumper-to-bumper traffic congestion on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue in Dhaka since morning just like the week days.
For a two kilometre stretch from Farmgate to Shahbagh intersection, which is normally a 10-minute ride on weekends, it took over an hour by motorised vehicles.
The vehicles are moving slowly on the street that stretches to Mirpur of Dhaka.

Some passengers, who are travelling by CNG-run auto-rickshaws and private cars, told The Daily Star, they started from Shahbagh around 11:00am but they could reach only Farmgate till 12:30pm.
None of them know why there was a gridlock during the weekend.

Abul Kashem, a passenger aboard a bus, said he arrived at Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue around 12:20pm in an hour after he started from Shahbagh.
