Citing that a section of people has been circulating fake information claiming there has been an increase in value-added tax (VAT) on sanitary napkins, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) today urged people not to get mislead.

“A group is circulating fake information which is unacceptable despite there being no increase on import duties and tax on finished sanitary pads,” the NBR said in a press release today.

The tax and supplementary duty on import of raw materials for sanitary napkins and other such products are also exempted, it added.

The government has exempted value-added tax and supplementary duty on import of raw materials for sanitary napkins so that domestically produced sanitary napkins can be sold at a low price, the press release added.

The current government considers it important to ensure women enjoy good health and have access to social security.
