Minor girl gang-raped in Bhatara

A 11-year-old girl was gang-raped allegedly by four youths in Dhaka’s Bhatara area early Friday.

The rape incident happened when the victim went to Nayanagar area around 10:00pm on Thursday night from Solma area of Bhatara to meet her mother, who used to work as a housemaid at a house there, said the victim’s elder sister.

She told The Daily Star that four youths picked up her sister from a road of Nayanagar area, took to a sand field and raped her.  

Some local people rescued the girl in an unconscious condition from a field around 6:00am today and took her to their house, added the victim’s sister.

The girl was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 11:30pm tonight as her physical condition deteriorated, Akhteruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Bhatara Police Station told The Daily Star.

Police are looking into the matter and trying to arrest the alleged rapists, the OC added.
