7 gamblers held at Narayanganj club

Detectives today claimed to have arrested seven people when they were gambling at United Association Club, popularly known as United Club, at Fatullah in Narayanganj.

The arrestees are: Tofazzel Hossain Tapu, 55, president of the United Association Club, Iqbal Hossain, 56, Kamal Hossain, 49, Shamsuzzaman, 40, Mostafizur Rahman, 52, ABM Shafiqul Islam, 50, and Afzal Hossain, 40.

The arrests were made during a raid conducted by Detective Branch (DB) of Police at the club last night, said Sazzad Romon, inspector of Special Branch of Police in Narayanganj.

The law enforcers also seized three bundles of cards and Tk 20,500 in cash, Inspector Sazzad said while briefing journalists after the raid.

A case has been filed against the club president and six others, he added.
