3 die in road crashes in Dhaka

Three people died today in separate road accidents across Dhaka.

A youth, Ruma Akhter, 26, died after she was hit by a bus while crossing the Mirpur Road at College Gate area in Mohammadpur around 3:30pm.

She was rushed to Shuhrawardi Medical College Hospital in critical condition from where she was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Doctors at DMCH declared Ruma dead around 4:30pm, Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia of DMCH police camp told The Daily Star.

In a separate incident, a veteran, Abdus Salam, 70, was found in an injured condition near Khilkhet around 7:00am. He was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors declared him dead. His body was kept at Dhaka Medical College morgue.

Another unidentified woman, around 45 years of age, taken to DMCH last night after being hit by a private car in Boubazar area in Hazaribagh, died early today.
