Charred remains of seven people, believed to have been killed in an explosion at a suspected militant den in Mirpur on September 5, were buried by Anjuman Mofidul Islam, a charitable organisation, today.

The bodies were buried at Jurain graveyard in Dhaka at 2:00pm, Nur Amin, duty officer of the charitable organization, told The Daily Star.

The responsibility of the burial was taken over by the organisation as no relatives of the militants were eager to perform the duties, the official added.

One of the key militant suspects, later identified as Abdullah, holed up there, caused the explosions, killing himself, his two wives and two children and possibly two of his employees, lawmen had said.

Shahnur Shikder, director of Anjuman Mofidul Islam, received the bodies from Dhaka Medical College morgue around 12:45pm, he told The Daily Star this afternoon.

The Mirpur raid ended with the haul of some powerful bombs, explosives, explosive-making materials and some sharp weapons. Charred remains of seven people were also found there.
