Minor drowns in Dhaka’s flooded road
A minor girl drowned in a flooded road at Kathalbagan in Dhaka this morning.
The victim, identified as Neem, 7, daughter of tea stall vendor Ismail Hossain in the area, was suffering from epilepsy. Mohammad Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Kalabagan Police Station, told The Daily Star that the girl drowned in water that flooded Kathalbagan area because of overnight rain.
Neem went out of the house around 6:00am and her body was found floating in the rain water in Barek Mansion Lane in the area around 7: 00am, said Anwar, a relative of the victim.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where attending doctor declared her dead.
People in the area have been facing acute water logging from quite some time with the roads dug up for repair works, Anwar complained.
