Lakehead school: Govt asked to form managing committee
The Supreme Court today directed the education ministry to form a managing committee headed by a divisional commissioner to run the Lakehead Grammar School in seven days.
The other persons of the committee will be included from the army, the SC said.
The committee will run the branches of the school until the Appellate Division hears and disposes of the appeal filed by the government against a High Court verdict which ordered the authorities to reopen the Dhanmondi and Gulshan branches of the school in Dhaka within 24 hours.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, who is carrying out responsibilities of the chief justice, passed the order after hearing a leave to appeal petition filed by the government against the HC verdict.
Two branches of the Lakehead Grammar School were shut down on charges of patronising extremism and militancy.
On November 19, the SC extended for 10 days its earlier order that stayed its chamber judges’ order that halted the HC verdict.
On November 7, the Dhaka district administration sealed off the two branches of the school and shut down all activities of the school, based on allegations that it was patronising militancy, promoting extremist views and providing support in the formation of militant outfits.
