Husband ‘kills wife’ in Dhaka

A man allegedly hacked his wife to death over a family feud in Kalyanpur area of Dhaka this afternoon, according to police.

The deceased was Jharna Begum, 35, wife of Abu Saied a rickshaw-puller, sub-inspector Nasir Uddin of Mirpur Police Station told The Daily Star.

An altercation took place between the husband and wife around 3:30pm, the police official said.

At one stage, the husband swooped on his wife with a sharp weapon and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving her dead on the spot, he added.

Later on information, police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Police also nabbed the husband in this connection.
