Housemaid poured boiled water in Dhaka

A housemaid was admitted to hospital after her employer allegedly poured hot water on her body in Dhaka’s Shyampur area today.

The victim, Laboni, 12, worked as a maid in the house of one Mabia Sultana in Ali Bahar area, police said.

Mabia allegedly poured boiled water on Laboni this noon after she failed to carry out some household chores, said Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Kadamtoli Police Station.

Hearing her screams, locals rescued Laboni and informed the police, the OC said, adding that she was later admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Laboni suffered blisters on her head and hands from the boiled water, the OC also said.

The employer, Mabia Sultana, has been taken into police custody for interrogation, he added.
