Fire at Mirpur Jhutpatti slum under control
A fire that broke out at Jhutpatti slum in Mirpur-10 area of the capital this afternoon was brought under control after around three hours of frantic efforts of fire-fighters and locals.
The fire that started engulfing the slum around 1:25pm was brought under control around 3:30pm, Lima Khanam, a duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters, told The Daily Star.
On information, 10 fire-fighting units from different adjoining areas rushed to the spot and started dousing the blaze, Russell Shikdar, another duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters, told The Daily Star.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, he said.
