Criminal gunned down a businessman in Mirpur area of Dhaka early today.

Md Jahidul Islam alias Rasel, 40, was running a drug store, said police.

An unidentified person went to his drug store named MediCare Pharmacy around 12:45am and shot him in the head.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Dadon Fakir, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station.

The motive behind the killing is not clear yet, the OC said.

Jahid’s father Abdul Mannan is the BNP joint secretary general of ward No. 3 in Pallabi.
