HC asks govt to block link to ‘Blue Whale’ game

The High Court today directed the government to block for six months the link to online ‘"Blue Whale Challenge" game, which is blamed for triggering suicide among its players across the world.

The court also ordered the authorities concerned to restrain mobile phone operators from offering special night-time packages with discount saying that it encourages the public to search and eventually play such games for the same period.

The High Court bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice JBM Hassan came up with the order a day after three Supreme Court lawyers led by Barrister Mohammed Kawsar filed a writ petition before it yesterday.

The court further ordered a bar on other such games available online.
