‘BCL men’ swoop on agitating students in Ctg

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists today allegedly swooped on the students while they were staging demonstration demanding road safety in Chittagong city.

The incident took place at the GEC intersection area of the port city this afternoon, reports our Chittagong correspondent. 

The BCL men also allegedly beat up two agitating students, witnesses said.  

The identities of those two students could not be known immediately.

According to two witnesses, Tasmia Afroz Trisha and Maruful Hasan, both fourth year students of Communication and Journalism Department of CU, said that the BCL men reached the area around 4:00pm when a group of students were staging a demonstration there.

At one point, the BCL men abruptly started beating the agitating students without any provocation.

“Maruful and I tried to take photos of the BCL men when they were carrying an attack on the students,” said Tasmia.

“When they realised we were about to take their photos, they snatched away our cameras and ran away,” she added.

Identities of those BCL men could not be known till filing of this report at 7:00pm.
