60 gold bars seized from Biman’s microbus at Dhaka airport
Customs officials today seized 60 gold bars weighing 6.96 kilogrammes from a microbus of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and detained the driver of the vehicle.
On information, a team of Dhaka Customs House intercepted the vehicle at the hanger gate of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and recovered the gold bars hidden under the interior cover of the vehicle’s door, said Othello Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Customs House.
Md Belal, the driver of the microbus, was detained, the customs official also said.
In primary interrogation, Belal said one Amjad, a trolley-man working at the airport, asked him to pass the gold bars outside the airport premises.
