3 ‘JMB’ men on 5-day remand
A Dhaka court today placed three suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on a five-day remand in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Raihanul Islam passed the order after police produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer for each of them.
Detectives arrested the three -- AHM Khairul Asad alias Sohag, Meer Motzem Hossain Saify and Kafil Uddin Bin Amin -- in Uttara of Dhaka yesterday, said Mashrukure Rahman, deputy commissioner of Detective Branch (South Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The law enforcers also recovered books focused on extremist ideology and one cellphone jammer from their possession, the police official said.
Among the arrestees, Sohag, an engineer of a private mobile company, was providing IT related support to the outfit, Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam said at a press conference at the DMP media centre this afternoon.
On the other hand, Meer Motzem Hossain Saify, and Kafil Uddin Bin Amin were trying to expand the organisational activities by recruiting new members, he added.
