2 brothers burnt to death in Dhaka

Two brothers were killed and their father suffered burn injuries as a fire raged through a tin-shed house in Dhaka’s Matuail area early today.

The deceased were identified as Palash, 12, and Tushar, 7, said Ataur Rahman, a duty-officer at fire service control room.

Iqbal Hossain, 55, the father of the duo, is undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

The fire, believed to have been originated from a mosquito coil, engulfed the entire tin-shed house in Matuail Uttarpara area under Jatrabari Police Station around 2:45am, the official said.

On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after an hour of frantic effort, he said.

Later, they recovered the charred bodies of the two children and rescued their father from inside the house, Ataur added.
