DU’s Speculators wins CFA Institute Research Challenge Bangladesh 2024-25

Team Speculators, from the Faculty of Business Studies, Dhaka University (DU), has emerged as the champions of the CFA Institute Research Challenge Bangladesh 2024-25. The team will now be representing Bangladesh in the Sub-Regional Round which is to be held virtually in March 2025.

Team Speculators – consisting of team leader Naimul Hasan Rafi, Abdul Mutalib, Tanjina Akter Nipa, Shimu Shaha, and Abhishek Shaha – conducted an in-depth analysis of Berger Paints Bangladesh, presenting well-researched buy, sell, and hold recommendations. Their final presentation was the culmination of months of meticulous research, involving interviews with company executives, competitors, and clients, as well as intensive presentation training. 

The Bangladesh leg of the CFA Institute Research Challenge commenced on December 21, 2024, with participation from 89 teams and 332 students representing 20 universities and institutions nationwide. Following a rigorous selection process, the top 10 teams progressed to the equity research report round, and the top five later advanced to the local final round.

Asadur Rahman Turzo and Nishat Tanjim Nera are Campus Ambassadors for The Daily Star from Dhaka University.
