Students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet) staged a protest today, displaying red cards to all political student organisations and the university administration.

The demonstration, held at university's Durbar Bangla Chattar at around 12:00pm, was directed at groups including Chhatra Dal, Chhatra League, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Chhatra Shibir, and Chhatra Union.

Chanting slogans and holding placards such as "No student politics in Kuet," "Red card to student politics", the students called for an end to student politics on campus.

The protesters demanded the resignation of the vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor, and director of student welfare, citing their failure to ensure campus safety.

They also demanded the permanent expulsion of those responsible and called for an ordinance replacing the existing ban on student politics to prevent legal reinstatement of political activities on campus.

Concerns were also raised over a Chhatra Dal-affiliated Facebook page, "Voice of Kuet," which students accused of spreading misinformation.

After the demonstration, protesters marched across the campus, returning to Durbar Bangla Chattar.

Despite submitting a six-point demand following Tuesday's attack, students expressed dissatisfaction with the administration's response. They pledged to submit a memorandum to the chief adviser, urging the swift appointment of a new vice-chancellor.

The injured students and others gathered at the Student Welfare Centre at 3:00pm to review footage of the attack.

Rahatul Islam, a student of Civil Engineering department, said, "Our demands remain unmet. The ban on student politics must be reinforced, and the allegations branding us as Chhatra Shibir are baseless. We call on the chief adviser to appoint a new vice-chancellor immediately so that academic activities can resume."

Meanwhile, Kuet authorities, in an emergency syndicate meeting yesterday, announced the suspension of all academic activities until February 28 and formed an investigation committee.

The administration also filed a case with Khan Jahan Ali Police Station against 400-500 unidentified individuals in connection with the attack.
