[WATCH NOW] New Skype feature allows chat without account

Skype has unveiled new feature that makes it easier for everyone to start a conversation and invite others to chat.

Now anyone can attend a conversation without having a Skype account or the app downloaded.

The Skype team kicked off the feature for the users to invite anyone to join a Skype chat by sharing a unique link.

"We've started to roll-out the ability for users to invite anyone to join a Skype chat by sharing a unique link – send it however you want, in an email, on Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger or Twitter," the Skype team said in a blog post yesterday.

"But best of all, anyone can join the chat as a guest from their computer using Skype for Web and enjoy one to one or group instant messaging, voice and video calls. No Skype account or app download required. Now you can use Skype to chat with anyone and not just the people in your Skype contact list," the post also read.

Wherever the users are, whatever device they possess – from computer and mobile, to tablet and TV – Skype just works. Skype makes it easy to get together and chat one-to-one or in a group, to hear a friendly voice and see eye to eye, all for free.

Over the next couple of weeks, the team said they will be bringing the ability to start a conversation and share a link from mobile devices soon across the world.

Currently users can start, share and join a conversation from Skype for Windows, Skype for Mac, and Skype for Web in the US and UK. Guests can join on Skype for Web.

Additionally, if anyone has a Skype name and Skype downloaded on one's mobile, the person can join a conversation on Skype for iPhone, iPad and Android.
