EATL & Prothom Alo begins countrywide campus activation for biggest app competition ever

The country's largest mobile app development competition platform is coming back this year, and every year this app competition by EATL gets bigger and better. With the intent of bringing out the apps developed by the youth to a global platform, the first app store in Bangladesh, EATL begins it's journey followed by this year's Prothom Alo App Competition 2016. Ethics Advanced Technologies Limtied (EATL) and Prothom Alo have organised the competition for the fourth time beginning on the 24th of May this year. The second part of the campaign was launched on the 18th of July with campus activation and seminars in Universities around the country.

Meanwhile activation and seminars are being completed at Dhaka's BRAC University, Victoria University, World University, Asian University, Eastern University, State University of Dhaka and from outside of Dhaka, at Khulna University, Khulna University of Technology, Khulna North Western, Patuakhali University of Technology, Barisal University, Jessore University of Technology and Rangpur's Hajee Mohammad Danesh University of Technology.

The teachers and students of these institutions are exhibiting great enthusiasm and excitement for the competition. Lots of students are signing up and getting information regarding the competition at the campus booths.

The organiser of the competition, EATL's Managing Director M. A. Mubin Khan said "You already know about Whatsapp. An app like this could do great things for society, it can bring positive change for the nation and even for the world. We are also looking for an app like this, with which we can show the world that we are competent too. If you have a good idea, then take part in the competition to build your app. Through this platform you can become recognised and help improve our society."

Students from the various universities in Bangladesh can submit their app ideas here until the 31st of August. Out of the submitted ideas, the top 500 will be announced on the 25th of September. The candidates will then have to build an app for either Android, iOS or Windows smartphones.

The competition will on the 24th of December after which the winning app will receive a Tk. 10 lakh prize along with a trophy. The runner ups in every section of the competition will also win Tk. 2 lakh. The World Bank is the main sponsor for the competition being hosted in Canada and is co-organised by the ICT Division, Government of Bangladesh and Channel I.
