Prof Yunus meets Japanese security scientist to explore quantum-proof digital future for Bangladesh
Bangladesh is set to strengthen its digital sovereignty following a high-level meeting between Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus and a Japanese delegation from Cipher Core Co., Ltd., held on December 29, 2025.
The delegation was led by Takatoshi Nakamura, an award-winning information security scientist, MIT-based researcher, and inventor of Complete Cipher Technology, which is regarded as a next-generation, quantum-proof security innovation. Discussions focused on strengthening quantum-resistant national information security, protecting government communications and digital platforms, and developing secure community-level digital cash systems.
During the meeting, Motoyuki Odachi, Chief Operating Officer of Cipher Core, proposed the formation of a Bangladesh–Japan Development Forum to accelerate technology transfer, capacity building, and skilled workforce mobility between the two countries.
Professor Yunus, along with Md. Daud Ali and Ashir Ahmed, underscored the importance of expanding collaboration in technology, research, and trade. The discussion also included prospects for increasing Bangladesh's leather exports to Japan as part of broader economic cooperation.
The meeting highlighted Bangladesh's ambition to position itself as a regional leader in secure digital innovation by adopting advanced, quantum-proof security technologies while ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth.
Also present at the meeting were Apple Mahmud, Strategic Diplomate and Chairman of Cipher Core Ltd., and Mahi Islam, Managing Director.
