IUBAT holds 8th convocation

The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) celebrated its 8th Convocation today at the Bangabandhu International Convention Center, Dhaka.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students were conferred their degrees in a grand ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.
Among the distinguished graduates, Riana Azad (BCSE) and Sangid Hasan Nayon (BATHM) were honoured with the prestigious Miyan Gold Medals for their outstanding academic achievements. Riana Azad topped the list of Gold Medalists and was awarded with the most prestigious Alimullah Miyan Award.
Degrees were awarded across various disciplines, including MBA, BBA, Agriculture, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Economics, Tourism and Hospitality, Nursing, and English.
The convocation was presided over by Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Water Resources.
In her speech, Syeda Rizwana commended IUBAT's contributions to research, global rankings, and sustainable education programs, particularly its Knowledge-Based Area Development (KBAD) initiatives.
She urged the graduates to uphold the values of their degrees and emphasized the importance of sustainability, highlighting her ministry's achievements in environmental protection during her tenure. She also encouraged higher education institutions to integrate sustainability programs into their curricula to nurture climate-conscious graduates.
The convocation speaker, Professor Tamsin Bradley from the University of Portsmouth, UK, underscored the significance of academic and scientific collaboration between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh. She praised the cooperation between IUBAT and the University of Portsmouth, recognizing its role in strengthening people-to-people ties through educational and research exchanges.
The ceremony began with a welcome address by IUBAT Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, while Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer of IUBAT, delivered the closing remarks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all attendees.
Established in 1991, IUBAT is one of Bangladesh's pioneering private universities, founded by the late Professor Dr. M. Alimullah Mian, a former Director of IBA, University of Dhaka, and a distinguished academician. Over the years, IUBAT has earned national and international recognition for its commitment to academic excellence and research, achieving high global rankings among private universities in Bangladesh.
