Daffodil Group to allocate one-third of net profit for social welfare from 2026
One-third of Daffodil Group's net profit will be allocated for social welfare from 2026, marking a rare and significant commitment to responsible corporate leadership in Bangladesh.
The announcement was made on January 2, 2026, during Daffodil Group's annual Family Day, held at Daffodil Smart City in Savar. The programme coincided with the final day of the National Mourning observance honouring three-time Prime Minister and National Leader Begum Khaleda Zia. More than 6,500 members of the Daffodil Family gathered to pay tribute to her memory and pray for the eternal peace of her soul.
At the same event, Daffodil Group formally declared that one-third of its net profit from all concerns will be dedicated to the welfare of the people of Bangladesh. The commitment was enacted through an official agreement, signalling that the Group's future direction will prioritise national development and public welfare alongside business growth.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of Daffodil Group Dr. Sabur Khan said, "From 2026, one-third of the net profit of all Daffodil Group concerns will be dedicated to public welfare." He added, "This is not just a donation; it is a Nation Building Investment."
Dr. Sabur Khan emphasised that the initiative goes beyond conventional corporate social responsibility and reflects a long-term commitment to nation-building. Referring to Bangladesh's limited resources and large population, he noted that without humanity, society risks becoming unsafe for all, underscoring the need for ethical and compassionate corporate leadership.
During the Family Day programme, Daffodil Group also honoured its long-serving employees. Seventy-nine employees with more than 20 years of service and thirteen employees with over 30 years of service received special recognition, reflecting the organisation's belief that dedicated employees are the foundation of sustainable institutional success.
It was also announced that the district-based development model implemented by Daffodil Foundation since 2000 will be expanded nationwide from 2026. Through this expansion, the Group reaffirmed its commitment to working with promising youth from every district of the country.
Explaining the scope of the initiative, Daffodil Group stated that the one-third social commitment is not a traditional charitable act, but a long-term nation-building plan. The fund will support sustained investment in education and scholarships, youth leadership development, job creation, healthcare, social protection, and innovation. The nationwide expansion of district-based development activities will run in parallel.
Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Group Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman clarified that allocating one-third of the Group's net profit will not affect salaries, benefits, or allowances of employees at any level.
Daffodil Group expressed confidence that employees will take pride in knowing their work directly contributes to national welfare. With this initiative, the Group aims to move beyond being a corporate entity to becoming an active partner in national development, setting a benchmark for responsible corporate citizenship in Bangladesh.
