Turnover weak, Dhaka stocks drop for fifth day

Shares on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in early trade today, extending their losing streak for the fifth consecutive session, as weak investor sentiment continues to drag the market.

The DSEX, the main gauge of the premier bourse, declined 58.14 points, or 1.1 percent, to 5,225.57 by 12:26pm, according to DSE data.

Sentiment was negative, with the Shariah-compliant DSES and the blue-chip DS30 indices edging lower.

Turnover, a key measure of investor participation, stood at Tk 275.30 crore at the time.

Market breadth was mostly negative, with 61 issues advancing against 283 declining, while 48 remained unchanged.
