Stocks rise for third day

Stocks in Bangladesh continued to rise today for the third consecutive day amid higher investor participation.
The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the DSEX, increased by 16 points, or 0.32 percent, to 5,216.
The Shariah-based DSES index also rose by 2.68 points, or 0.23 percent, to 1,166.
The blue-chip index, DS-30, grew by 4 points, or 0.26 percent, to 1,899.
Shares worth Tk 452 crore changed hands today, which was 9.7 percent higher than the previous day.
Among the traded stocks, 191 advanced, 140 declined, and 67 remained unchanged.
Golden Harvest and S Alam Cold Rolled Steels Ltd posted the highest gains of 10 percent each, followed by Hami Industries with a 9.9 percent increase.
Midland Bank recorded the biggest drop, falling by 5.8 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also rose, with its major index, the CSCX, increasing by 47 points, or 0.53 percent, to 8,845.
