The officials of Bangladesh Bank have strongly condemned the attack on Muhammad Badiuzzaman Didar, the administrator of mobile financial service provider Nagad and also a director of the central bank.

Today morning, Bangladesh Bank officials organised a protest meeting and demonstration, demanding the swift arrest of the attackers and exemplary punishment.

The protest was moderated by Bangladesh Bank's Additional Director Mohammad Roknuzzaman.

Speakers at the event included BB Director Anisur Rahman, Sabuj Dal President Mizanur Rahman Akon, injured Didar, Additional Director Amitabh Chakraborty, Zia Parishad President Abdul Kuddus, and Joint Director Shahedul Islam, among others.

"Since taking office, I have been facing various threats. Although I informed the authorities, they only advised me to file a general diary (GD). When I personally reported it to the security management department, they did not take appropriate measures. As a result, I have been attacked," Didar said.

In a statement issued on the same day, Nagad expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the attack on its administrator by unidentified miscreants.

A general diary has already been lodged on behalf of Nagad with Banani Police Station following the incident.

The Nagad family has urged the authorities to take swift and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice, the statement added.

A day earlier, unidentified assailants attacked Nagad's administrator on Road Number 12 in Banani, Dhaka, leaving him injured.

The attackers also vandalised his vehicle with hammers, and his driver sustained serious injuries.
