Miscreants attack Nagad administrator hours after ACC drive

Unidentified miscreants attacked Nagad's Administrator Muhammad Badiuzzaman Didar this afternoon on Road Number 12 in Banani, Dhaka, leaving him injured.
The attackers also vandalised his vehicle with hammers, and his driver sustained serious injuries.
The administrator, who was appointed by Bangladesh Bank, shared the information with this correspondent.
Earlier in the day, a team from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid at Nagad's office.
Following the operation, Didar informed the media that preliminary findings indicated the mobile financial service provider was involved in the illegal transfer of Tk 1,700 crore and irregularities involving Tk 645 crore in e-money transactions.
The ACC team collected relevant documents for further investigation.
The administrator told The Daily Star that a group of miscreants followed him while he was heading to Gulshan after the ACC team left Nagad.
He said the assailants intercepted his private car, launched an attack, severely injured the driver while damaging the vehicle, and then physically assaulted him.
When contacted, Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the attack and stated that the administrator had been advised to file a case.
Khan assured that the matter would be handled through legal procedures.
Earlier, on February 3, Bangladesh Bank filed a case against Nagad, alleging fraud, embezzlement, and financial irregularities amounting to Tk 645 crore.
The lawsuit named 24 individuals, including 16 officials of Nagad Ltd and eight officials of the Directorate of Posts.
