Lee's Tobacco Machinery Company Limited, a UAE- and Singapore-owned entity, will invest $8.32 million in Bepza Economic Zone to manufacture machinery for tobacco processing.

The investment is expected to create 92 jobs for Bangladeshi nationals, according to a press release.

Md Ashraful Kabir, member for investment promotion at Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza), and Li Meng, chairman of Lee's Tobacco Machinery Company, signed an agreement in this regard at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka today.

Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, executive chairman of Bepza, attended the signing ceremony.

Commenting on the agreement, Rahman said, "This milestone underscores our commitment to diversifying export-oriented industries. We anticipate further investments in machinery production, which will contribute to the broader industrial landscape of Bangladesh."

Li Meng, chairman of Lee's Tobacco Machinery, emphasised his commitment to transferring technical expertise to local workers, thereby building a skilled workforce in machinery manufacturing.
