IMF’s 4th tranche deferral was a mutually agreed decision: finance ministry

The International Monetary Fund's (IMF) decision to disburse the fourth and fifth tranches together was a mutually agreed decision, the finance ministry said today.
The instalments are disbursed upon the fulfilment of conditions that have been mutually agreed upon by the government and the IMF to strengthen the foundation of the economy, according to a press release.
"Budget support programmes are associated with the implementation of conditions, some of which require time. Hence, it was mutually decided that the two disbursements scheduled for fiscal 2024-25 would be combined."
Therefore, the IMF agreed to combine the fourth and fifth disbursements in June.
The disbursement will be made after the satisfactory completion of the review scheduled for April and approval by the IMF board in June, the finance ministry added.
