Govt bans import of e-cigarettes

The government has banned the import of e-cigarettes or electronic nicotine delivery systems to protect public health.

The commerce ministry today issued a notification through a gazette, saying that e-cigarettes have been added to the list of banned items under the Import Policy Order 2021-2024.

The ban takes effect immediately, as per the notification.

This decision follows a government move taken nearly a month ago to restrict the import of all e-cigarette-related products to protect public health and future generations from their harmful effects.
