Gold breaks record again

Gold prices broke another record, as their rates rose today for the third consecutive day, hitting a new high of Tk 185,947 per bhori.
Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) decided to make the rate effective from tomorrow.
The latest rise has added Tk 3,138 per bhori, which is equivalent to around 11.664 grammes.
The adjustment followed a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market, Bajus said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh does not import any significant quantity of gold.
In Bangladesh, the annual demand for gold stands between 20 and 40 tonnes.
About 80 percent of the demand is met through smuggling.
Gold continued its record rally on Tuesday, as expectations of an imminent September US interest rate cut weighed on the dollar and Treasury yields, while investors looked ahead to inflation data due this week, according to Reuters.
Spot gold was up 0.7 percent at $3,661.09 per ounce, as of 09:33 a.m. ET (13:33 GMT), after hitting a record high of $3,666.38 earlier in the session, it said.
