Dhaka stocks fall as losing run extends to second day

Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) declined in early trading today, extending their losing run for the second straight session.  

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, decreased 48.16 points, or 0.85 percent, to 5,579 by 12:14 pm, according to DSE data.

The mood was similarly negative across the board: the Shariah-compliant DSES inched down 0.93 percent to 1,213.80, while the blue-chip DS30 went down 1.27 percent to 2,163.98.

Turnover, an indicator of investor activity, reached Tk 652.35 crore at the time.

Market breadth was mixed, with 97 issues advancing against 248 declining, and 50 holding steady.

Among the notable moves, Familytex (BD) shot up 10 percent to top the gainers' list, while Bangladesh Industrial Fin Co slid 9 percent, posting the worst fall of the session so far.
