Dhaka stocks extend rally as benchmark index climbs nearly 1%

Shares on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rallied in early trade today, extending gains for a third straight session as investors pushed the benchmark index higher.

The DSEX, the main gauge of the premier bourse, advanced 51.39 points, or 0.94 percent, to 5,467.17 by 11:54 am, according to DSE data.

Sentiment was broadly upbeat, with both the Shariah-compliant DSES and the blue-chip DS30 indices edging higher.

Turnover, a key measure of investor participation, stood at Tk 261.28 crore at the time.

Market breadth was largely positive, with 256 issues advancing against 74 declining, while 61 remained unchanged.

Exim Bank surged 10 percent to top the gainers' list, while ML Dyeing shed 4.95 percent, marking the biggest fall of the session so far.
