BSTI certification made mandatory for 10 new products

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has included 10 new products in the list which now need mandatory certification from the national standards body.

The new products are: disposable diapers, facewash, petroleum jelly, flatbread/tortilla, shaving foam or gel, eye care, hair dye liquid, aerosol, shoe polishing and geyser.

The BSTI periodically reviews the list of products for which businesses need to get the institution's clearance before putting them up for sale on the market.

The BSTI updated and included the new products on the list in its 37th council meeting held at its headquarters on Sunday.

With the inclusion, the number of products that come under the BSTI's compulsory certification requirement rises to 239.

Of them, 88 are food and agricultural products, according to the agency.
