BGMEA accords reception to 16 MPs from garment trade
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) today accorded a reception to 16 members of parliament (MPs) who are also members of the organisation.
The trade body hosted the programme at the Army Golf Club in Dhaka to honour the MPs. The awardees were greeted with flowers and presented with crests.
The MPs are Ahmad Sohel Monzur, Md Lutfor Rahman, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Md Shoriful Alam, Afroza Khanam, Md Abdullah, Shama Obaed Islam, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, SM Faisal, Md. Khaled Hossain Mahboob, Zakaria Taher, Md Abul Kalam, Md Abdul Hannan, Zainul Abdin Farroque, Md Shahadat Hossain and Ershad Ullah.
While chairing the event, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said that the elected MPs will highlight the garment sector in the policymaking of the country and contribute more to further development of the sector, according to a BGMEA statement.
He also hoped that the elected MPs would help in the diversification of export products and ease of doing business.
In the 12th national election held in 2024, the BGMEA accorded reception to 19 MPs, as they were members of the BGMEA as garment manufacturers and exporters.
