BB eases forex rules for uprising victims’ medical treatment abroad
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) today relaxed the limit on foreign currency that can be taken abroad for the treatment of individuals injured during the July-August mass uprising that ousted the previous regime.
The foreign currency limit for medical treatment abroad is $10,000 or an equivalent amount.
However, the $10,000 limit or equivalent shall be relaxed for individuals injured in the mass uprising seeking treatment abroad, the central bank said in a circular.
In this context, authorised dealers (ADs) of commercial banks may release foreign exchange based on estimates.
International card channels may also be used for these transactions, in addition to traditional banking channels.
