BASIS to honour 108 ICT icons, startups

The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) will honour 108 individuals and startups for their outstanding contribution in the country.

The award will be given in 36 categories in order to acknowledge and recognise the innovative products and services of information technology (IT) or information technology enabled services (ITES) sectors, BASIS said in a press conference held at its auditorium yesterday.

The winners of highly innovative projects will be nominated to compete with international participants in the APICTA Awards 2022, which is known as "Oscar" award of Asia-Pacific region, it said.

It was announced that participants would be able to take part in the competition through online registration.

Interested participants are encouraged to register using the official website of BASIS National ICT Awards.

This registration will remain open from September 20 to October 2.

BASIS President Russell T Ahmed said: "We try to select and identify all innovative and ground-breaking products and services of IT Sectors through BASIS National ICT Awards."

This award is being hosted by BASIS keeping upcoming APICTA Awards in mind, he said, adding: "These potential and creative software and ITES products and services are not only meeting our local demands, but they also have the ability to meet the international market's standard."

"This year we will emphasise the projects, which are effective and useful to make Smart Bangladesh from Digital Bangladesh. As usual, the winners of the best projects will be nominated for APICTA Awards 2022," he said.
