Bank accounts linked to Faisal Karim Masud frozen

The NBR froze the accounts due to Masud’s alleged involvement in the shooting of Hadi

The National Board of Revenue's intelligence wing has frozen the bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud, his company Apple Soft IT Limited, and all members of his family on suspicion of his involvement in the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent candidate in the Dhaka-8 constituency.

Confirming the development to The Daily Star, Ahsan Habib, Director General of the Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the NBR, said the move was taken as part of an ongoing investigation.

"We have frozen the bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud, his company Apple Soft IT Limited, and his family members in connection with the matter," Habib said.

Officials said the decision was made to prevent any potential transfer or concealment of funds while the probe is underway.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation into the shooting of Osman Hadi, while financial intelligence authorities are examining possible financial links and transactions related to the case.

Hadi, spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho, was shot in the capital's Paltan area on December 12, leaving him critically injured.

The incident took place on Box Culvert Road, between DR Tower and Baitus Salam Jame Mosque, around 2:25pm, said Hussain Muhammad Farabi, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Motijheel Zone).
