15 crore Bangladesh citizens lack access to eight basic services

A study finds

About 87.5 percent, or 15 crore, of Bangladesh's citizens do not have access to all eight basic services, a study has found.

These services include access to drinking water, sanitation, hygiene facilities, clean fuel and technology, basic education, basic information services, basic mobility in both rural and urban contexts, and basic waste collection services.

The Citizen's Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, in collaboration with the government of Bangladesh and the UNDP, with support from Switzerland, jointly prepared the study on the National SDG Report (VNR) 2025.

Towfiqul Islam Khan, senior research fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), presented the study findings at a programme held at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
