Stocks open higher
The stock market in Bangladesh started today on a positive note, building on the rise in the last three days.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose 5 points, or 0.08 per cent, to 6,394 until 12:45pm.
On the DSE, 149 stocks advanced, 171 declined, and 56 remained unchanged.
However, the turnover of the DSE hit Tk 345 crore in the first three hours of trading.
Savar Refractories Ltd topped the gainers' list with a 9.5 per cent rise. Janata Insurance Company, Sonar Bangla Insurance, Islami Insurance Bangladesh, Rahima Food Corporation and City General Insurance also advanced.
