4 companies summoned for selling broiler chicken at high prices
The Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP) today summoned four companies including Kazi Farms for selling broiler chicken at high prices.
The other companies are Aftab Bahumukhi Farms Limited, CP Bangladesh and Paragon Poultry and Hatchery Limited. They were asked to go to the DNCRP office at 1:30pm today.
Director of DNCRP Monjur Mohammad Shahriar confirmed the information to The Daily Star.
"These companies claimed that the cost of producing a chicken is Tk 130-140 per kg. However, they are selling broiler chicken at Tk 220 per kg. So we called them to know the reason for selling at a higher rate," he said.
There should be a limit to making a profit, he added.
